Quran classes for teenagers (ages 12–17)
Forty-five minutes is comfortable, and the lesson can go deeper — a teenager can hold a rule, apply it, and explain why it applied. Being talked down to loses them faster than difficulty does.
- Lesson length
- 45 minutes
- Lessons a week
- 2–4
- Age range
- 12–17
Where most students start
Extremely varied. Some read fluently and want Tajweed or Hifz; others stopped at eight and are self-conscious about being behind.
What is expected at home
Minimal, and usually better that way. Scheduling around school and exams is the main thing a parent still handles.
What usually gets in the way
- Embarrassment at being behind peers
- Exam terms disrupting continuity
- Motivation once it is no longer a parent’s idea
What they usually want
- Recite correctly enough to lead prayer
- Understand what is being recited
- Memorise a defined portion
What your teenager can study
Quran Reading Basics
Reading the mushaf slowly and accurately, one line at a time, with a teacher correcting every error.
Noorani Qaida (Complete)
The full Qaida from the first letter to joined reading, at the pace the student needs.
Tajweed Foundations
The rules that change the most: noon sakinah, meem sakinah, and the lengthening of madd.
Hifz of the Full Quran
Memorising all thirty juz with a revision system built in from the first lesson.
Quranic Arabic Foundations
The vocabulary and grammar that account for most of the Quran’s words.
Islamic Studies Foundations
Belief, worship, character and the life of the Prophet, at an appropriate level.
Tafsir of Juz Amma
The meaning and context of the short surahs most people already recite.
Learn to Pray (Salah)
Every position of the prayer and what is said in it, taught step by step.
Beautiful Recitation (Tarteel)
Reciting with measure and beauty, within the rules rather than at their expense.
Daily Duas
The supplications for waking, eating, leaving home, and sleeping — memorised with meaning.
Introduction to Qira’at
How the recognised recitations differ and why they are all authentic.
Tafsir of Selected Surahs
In-depth study of Al-Kahf, Yasin, Ar-Rahman or another chosen surah.
Quranic Grammar (Nahw and Sarf)
Sentence structure and word morphology, applied to the Quran rather than taught abstractly.
Duas from the Quran
The supplications the prophets made, in their own words.
Hifz of Juz Amma
The thirtieth juz — the short surahs used in daily prayer.
Fluent Quran Reading
Moving from slow decoding to reading at a natural pace without losing accuracy.
Advanced Tajweed
Makharij, sifaat and the rules of stopping, to the standard expected of a teacher.
Arabic Alphabet for Quran
The 29 letters: their shapes, their sounds, and where each is produced in the mouth.
Aqidah (Belief)
What Muslims believe about Allah, the prophets, the books and the hereafter.
Salah Correction
For those who pray but are unsure whether they are doing it right.
Surahs for Salah
A working set of short surahs to recite, memorised properly rather than half-learned.
Selected Surah Memorisation
Specific surahs — Yasin, Al-Kahf, Ar-Rahman, Al-Mulk — rather than a full programme.
Quranic Vocabulary
Systematic vocabulary building by root, so one root unlocks many words.
Ijazah Preparation
Working towards a certified chain of transmission, with the recitation standard that requires.
Seerah (Life of the Prophet)
The life of the Prophet ﷺ in sequence, with what each episode teaches.
Thematic Tafsir
Following a theme — patience, provision, justice — across the whole Quran.
Masnoon Duas
The established prophetic supplications for particular occasions.
Quran Reading Refresher
For those who learned as a child, stopped, and want to rebuild what has faded.
Qaida Revision and Correction
For students who finished a Qaida but still make basic errors.
Tajweed Correction
One-to-one correction of the specific errors in your recitation, not a general course.
Hifz Revision Programme
For huffaz whose memorisation has weakened and needs rebuilding.
Fiqh of Worship
The rulings of purification, prayer, fasting, zakat and hajj.
Makharij Training
Focused work on articulation points, for letters that never sound quite right.
Islamic Manners and Character
Adab — how a Muslim behaves with family, neighbours and strangers.
