Islamic Manners and Character for New Muslims
Islamic Manners and Character for new muslims, taught one to one in 45-minute lessons, 1–3 lessons a week. Adab — how a Muslim behaves with family, neighbours and strangers.
Lesson length and why
Forty-five minutes, with time set aside for questions. Nothing is assumed as already known, including vocabulary other students take for granted.
Where most students start
No Arabic, and often no background knowledge to hang it on. Frequently learning to pray at the same time as learning to read.
What is expected at home
None.
How long it takes
Islamic Manners and Character typically runs 12–28 weeks at 1–3 lessons a week. The range is wide because it moves with revision between lessons more than with anything that happens in them.
