Daily Duas for new muslims, taught one to one in 45-minute lessons, 1–3 lessons a week. The supplications for waking, eating, leaving home, and sleeping — memorised with meaning.

45-minute lessons13 per week

Lesson length and why

Forty-five minutes, with time set aside for questions. Nothing is assumed as already known, including vocabulary other students take for granted.

Where most students start

No Arabic, and often no background knowledge to hang it on. Frequently learning to pray at the same time as learning to read.

What is expected at home

None.

How long it takes

Daily Duas typically runs 8–20 weeks at 1–3 lessons a week. The range is wide because it moves with revision between lessons more than with anything that happens in them.

What is covered

  1. 1Morning and evening
  2. 2Before and after eating
  3. 3Entering and leaving
  4. 4Before sleep

What usually gets in the way

Specific to new muslims — these are the things that actually derail progress for this group.

  • Being taught by people who assume prior knowledge
  • Terminology used without explanation
  • Needing salah before reading fluency

By the end

  • The daily duas memorised
  • Understanding of what is being asked
